My new computer

Today is kind of an exciting day for me, though for most people it would be a more boring one.  Today is when the parts for my new computer will arrive.  I spent about $600 on the parts and most people think it is a waste of money, and I can't really argue against that.  Most people would think it is a waste of money.  I on the other hand, do not.  Why?  Because I am not just going to leave it lying around my house, I am actually going to use it.

I like to play videogames, which is pretty normal in my opinion.  The first game console that I had was a Super Nintendo when I was 5 years old.  Its a shame that it broke, but recently I bought one on amazon so my family can enjoy all the old games we used to play together such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 2, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (yes that was the title of the video game).  And videogames have been a part of my life since I was a kid.  I was never really allowed to play with any of my friends after school throughout my whole life, as I used to live in a dangerous neighborhood and my parents were afraid that I would get shot or something.  So videogames were pretty much what I have been doing all these years.  They are always there, through the good and the bad.  They helped me get through middle school which was a pretty hard time for me, but that is a story for another day.

All this is kind of why I chose to buy parts for a computer.  To make a computer that is meant for gaming.  There are basically ENDLESS amounts of videogames that can be played on them, as many people who make videogames aren't famous enough to have their games published by big companies such as Nintendo or Sony.  This does not mean that their games are bad in any way, they are just not as known.

My sister thinks that I won't even be able to put my computer together, and that it will be forever left alone in the void also known as my closet.  My closet is where countless things that I have are being kept.  Most of the junk is not mine, but I do not want to even think about cleaning it out.  I have things such as sleeping bags, blankets, cables from old tv's, school supplies, a few computer monitors, legos, a few board games, some books, and of course my clothes.

to be continued....

  1. I understand completely how you feel. I have recently bought parts for my computer to upgrade it and make it more game friendly. I get my family telling me that it is a waste of time and money, but for me it is not. Computers and video games are my hobbies as well, and other people find it useless. Well is it useless for a family member to go get their nails done every two weeks? Or get their hair cut and colored every two to three months? To me, yes that would be useless and a waste of money. It just depends on the person. What is fun for one person will not be fun for the next, but do not judge other people for their hobbies and likes. It is not right because every person is different and do not like the same things another family member might. I would actually like to talk with you about how you are building your computer, and maybe get some tips as well. Thank you for posting this, I enjoyed it very much.

  2. this is wonderful I know how much computers and game cousels can mean to a person. Especially when you have grown up with gaming and it has helped with life. Have you ever thought about making video games? I have a friend who is going to school for that and I think that would be great for you.

  3. Great blog! I wish I could afford to beef up my computer like that. I am also an avid gamer, and understand that PC gaming can be a lot better than console gaming. The obvious reason consoles are more popular is because of these expenses that you must pay to update your PC. Many people cannot afford these upgrades, but if they could I'm sure PC gaming would be just as popular.

I am an avid FPS fan. Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, whatever I can get my hands on, and I understand that these games are at their best graphically when you run them on the computer with a high end video card. Perhaps one day I will make enough money to be able to upgrade my computer like you have. One can hope. Great blog.
